ACS was created by Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) Nick Ciacca. Nick began his career as a residential counselor at Endeavor House in Monmouth County, NJ, and eventually became a primary clinician at the Keyport location. He attended trainings offered via the New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN) to obtain the credential of a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC) while at Endeavor House. He later transitioned to Discovery Institute of Addictive Disorders in Marlboro, NJ. He held many positions there, including supervisor of the halfway house and the intensive outpatient program (IOP). Nick was fortunate to learn and work with many highly educated and experienced professionals throughout the years. He has been fortunate to be able to provide addiction counseling services to many people during his time in the field. This has provided him with the ability to be very diverse in his approach toward assisting and effectively reaching others. Nick notes that there is not any better feeling than seeing someone struggling with addiction to alcohol or drugs turn his or her life around and begin to experience happiness and freedom from addiction.
Nick decided shortly after obtaining a master's in addiction counseling from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ, and becoming an LCADC that he desired to design his own practice in which client care would be of the utmost importance. He decided he could better assist individuals in his own practice utilizing his personal experience with addiction (Nick has over 18 years in recovery), his education and knowledge he learned throughout the years.
Nick provides many services at ACS in the Belford section of Middletown, NJ, including private alcohol and drug counseling, group therapy, substance abuse evaluations and consultation. He also is available for crisis intervention and provides prevention and education information.
The goal of ACS is to assist individuals develop an understanding of the importance of themselves, educate their families/loved ones on addiction and recovery, teach them how to cope with and overcome their addiction to drugs and/or alcohol, how to begin the recovery process, and how to obtain their goals and dreams without the use of substances so they may lead fulfilling, meaningful lives.
Nick believes in the importance of the continuum of care for individuals and works with other treatment centers to provide the necessary and beneficial services for those seeking help and continuing assistance in their recovery. Nick has extensive knowledge of resources available to individuals struggling and recovering from addiction and alcoholism.
Nick understands from firsthand experience the difficulties associated with addiction and puts his heart into helping all individuals who either receive services from ACS or call for help.
